The latest Clinical Guidelines (see reference list) tell us we should be grouping the causes of lower back pain into one of three categories:
1.Simple or non-specific lower back pain (95%)
2. Nerve root irritation (sciatica)(<5%)
3. Serious back problems (<1%)
